Sometimes your mind's too full for mindfulness
We’re joining forces with the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) once again. Our aim is to help more young people cope with life's ups and downs.
This time we’re poking fun at some self-care cliches. They work for some, but sometimes your mind’s too full for mindfulness. So if yoga or breathing techniques aren’t up your street, just do what works for you when you’re feeling low. Even if that does involve a hot dog (or two) in the bath.
There is a close up shot of a woman’s face, focusing on her eyes that are looking off into the distance. She closes her eyes slowly. The camera pans out to show her whole face. She wears over ear headphones with her eyes closed. She has a peaceful look on her face. Suddenly, we are back at the close up shot of her face as her eyes open. The screen changes to show a video game. Quick shots showing the woman pulling down the microphone on her headphones, grabbing a gaming controller and starting to play the game are shown. The camera pans to show the woman in her bedroom, in a gaming chair. She leans forward as she avidly plays the game, smiling. The screen changes to show text that reads ‘Just do what gets you through #WhatGetsYouThrough www.itv.com/whatgetsyouthrough’ with the ITV and Campaign Against Living Miserably logos.
A vase of flowers is shown next to lit candles and flower petals, arranged around the edges of a bathtub. A drop of liquid hits the water's surface, creating ripples. A bath bomb drops into the water and begins to dissolve. Quick shots show a hand turning a tap handle, grabbing a rubber duck and then dropping it, squeezing mustard onto a hot dog from a bottle, and pressing the on button on a remote. A man takes a bite of the hotdog whilst relaxing into the bathtub, with his eyes closed and smiling. The screen changes to show text that reads ‘Just do what gets you through #WhatGetsYouThrough www.itv.com/whatgetsyouthrough’ with the ITV and Campaign Against Living Miserably logos.
